La Estacion
Tucked away in Galveston at 2428 Ball St, La Estacion is one of those hidden gems locals whisper about but can’t stop visiting. This cozy Mexican spot knows how to keep things real—think authentic flavors, good portions, and a chill vibe that works whether you’re showing up with friends, bringing the kids, or just rolling solo for a quiet bite.
Now, if you’re wondering what to order first, go for the Surprise Burrito. It’s exactly what it sounds like—every bite brings something unexpected but totally satisfying. Their Breakfast Tacos hit differently too, especially when you’re starting your day craving something warm and filling. For those who love a classic, Eggs a La Mexicana or the Migas Burrito will not disappoint. The Barbacoa Plate? That’s comfort food on another level—tender, flavorful, and just messy enough to make it fun.
What really makes La Estacion stand out, though, is the atmosphere. It’s got that balance of energy and ease—moderate noise levels that still let you hold a convo, tables big enough for groups, and a kid-friendly setting that doesn’t feel chaotic. It's the kind of place where the staff remembers your order if you're a regular, and you won’t feel rushed even if the place is buzzing.
So, whether you’re a Galveston local or just passing through and looking for a spot with serious flavor and zero pretension, La Estacion brings it. The food’s made with care, the service feels personal, and the vibe is just right for a laid-back meal that actually leaves you smiling.

This is a divey but delicious Mexican restaurant that I grew up going to in Galveston. I have not been here in many years, and I heard that the food was still good. I decided to try it out. The service is friendly, but don't come in a hurry because only 2 people are serving the whole restaurant. This is t the kind of place you should be in a rush at anyways. The breakfast plates and burritos are fantastic, so take your time and enjoy. On this visit I had the barbacoa plate. I am always cautious ordering barbacoa because the meat can be too fatty and unenjoyable. Their barbacoa was perfect. Tender, juicy, and meaty. It's an old building, so don't expect it to be trendy or fancy. Come here for the food.
Food and service is always outstanding. Salsa is fresh, tortillas are good and the surprise burrito is always on point!
Classic homemade authentic Mexican breakfast burrito no frills but very delicious homemade tortillas
I have been coming here for 26 years and La Estacion has never let me down. It is not fancy, new, or updated, but what it lacks in visuals it makes up for in their food and their prices. My wife and I love this place so much we even had a huge breakfast there the day after our wedding. If you are a tourist, this probably isn't the place for you. The service is relaxed, it's filled with locals, and there's no where to store your suitcases while you eat. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would!
They were open for Mardi Gras just selling a small menu for the awaiting parade goers. I had seen someone with a Turkey leg and asked the patron where she got it from, she pointed down the street. I walked 2 blocks and finally found this at the street corner of Ball and Rosenberg St/25th St. They had huge Turkey Legs and we had to have one! Thank you, I'm sure this menu was only for Mardi Gras, but we'll be back for some Mexican food on another trip! Thank you for the Hospitality!
